[Resource] I'm doing the best I can and I need help!
I love Women's History Month.
Celebrating women is the ethos of Hey Auntie! I'll gladly use every opportunity to honor women utilizing their gifts, talents, and services to improve our communities.
As the founder of Hey Auntie!, my approach to creating this platform is by deeply listening to you and centering your needs to build a community that holistically supports you at home, work, and everywhere in between.
In connecting with women just like you from their mid 20's to their mid 70's, the stressors, we discuss vary depending on our life season. Still, I hear way more commonalities among us. In our recent Getting to Know You survey of our Hey Auntie! community, when asked to prioritize the ten areas where you need support, the top five (in order of ranking) were self-esteem, finances, life skills, relationships, and navigating career/professional journey.
I share this insight with you for one primary reason:
Sometimes, we feel like "the only." "The only one," wrestling with unrelenting thoughts of not being enough. The "the only one" trying to make ends meet. "The only one," trying to figure it all out. The "only one" trying to be the best person, daughter, mom, grand-mom, auntie, wife, girlfriend, employee, manager, niece, caregiver, sister and friend.
And it's the feeling of "the only" that often makes us isolate ourselves. We put on our masks, smile that doesn't quite reach our eyes, and say, "Everything is fine" when we know it is not.
But, sis, you are not alone. You are experiencing what women, especially Black women all over this city, country, and the globe, are experiencing and do not always feel safe to say: "I'm doing the best I can, AND I need help."
We wholeheartedly understand.
That's why for Women's History Month, I am excited to give you first look at our pilot version of Hey Aunties! Community Connections, an ongoing specially curated Philadelphia area-based resource of support and services with the Hey Auntie! Touch: A Commitment to Excellence, Cultural Sensitivity, Community, and Compassion.
Click here to learn more about our inaugural group of women and their services. And if you reach out to them, please let them know Hey Auntie! sent you.
Finally, sis, if no one has said it to you today, allow us to: YOU are doing a great job, and we're proud of you!
