Hi, I'm the Founder of Hey Auntie! Get to Know Me!

Happy New Year, Sis!

2021 was a very successful year, and that's largely thanks to you!

We look forward to more success in the New Year, and to being an ever-present shoulder you can lean on.

This year we are excited to roll out more opportunities for you to begin to connect with Hey Auntie! And I want to start with us beginning to get to know each other better.

I’ll go first:

  • I am the oldest of four girls

  • I’m a proud West Philadelphia native

  • My favorite movie is Love and Basketball

  • I graduated from an all-girls high school and an all-women’s college

  • My favorite music is anything ‘90s, especially R&B

After college, my career followed an interesting path:

  • My first job was in NYC as an Assistant Buyer for Ross Stores because I love fashion, home decor, and a sale!

  • I worked in the areas of public policy, communications, and programs with leading organizations, including the National NAACP. In these roles, I learned how to advocate for and work towards improving the racial, social, economic, and health outcomes of underrepresented communities.

Curve ball. Unfortunately, I lost sight of my health. Combine that with wrestling with stress, anxiety, and perfectionism, I became physically sick. At that time I made a terrifying decision - to drop everything and return home permanently to rest, reassess, and rediscover my purpose and prioritize my health. I was 32.

  • Needing to do something different, I enrolled in an intro filmmaking class. I produced a documentary called It Starts with Me! on my intergenerational conversations with women in my community who were listening, validating and helping me navigate that season of my life, especially as a millennial Black woman.

  • This documentary opened doors for me to screen my film for non-profits, for-profits, colleges, churches, and even on the Hill in Washington DC and create spaces for conversations and storytelling as a vehicle to improve our mental health

  • I started my own business, combining my public policy, communications, and programmatic expertise, to consult with and support mission-driven companies and organizations such as the National Black Women’s Justice Institute, PECO, Urban League of Philadelphia, and Gaudenzia in advancing their goals.

  • I also became a fitness instructor at my childhood YMCA and a personal trainer, serving predominately an intergenerational community of Black women.

7 years later (with both highs and lows because life is a journey full of surprises):

With the wealth of personal and professional experience I gained combined with my growing multigenerational community, I founded Hey Auntie! a life-on-life coaching platform that connects Black women to advance health, well-being, and intergenerational community at home, work, and everywhere in between.
